(Otherwise titled: please hire me, Disney.) If you could choose any bird and design the ideal birdhouse for them, what would it look like? Where would it be placed? Did you measure the opening so they could enter and exit freely? How do the aesthetic choices complement the cultural art of where the bird lives? These are the questions I asked myself as I embarked on this project. I created a functional, representational birdhouse, and then took that design into the nonrepresentational and abstracted realms. Process: Research - Sketching - Technical Drawings - Renderings - Digital Layout - Laser cutting - Construction - Finish. Repeat for the next two birdhouses.
