#The100DayProject

As a creative exercise, I made an illustration every day for 100 days, which was both exciting and creatively challenging. That span of time included trips to the Florida Keys, Japan, and Georgia, as well as the conclusion of a spring semester at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. The entirety of the 100 days is chronicled from the beginning of my Instagram feed: @emilywalkerdesign.

My illustrations were all created on an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil. Some were sketched on paper first, depending on the intricacy of the specific design.

I wanted to maintain consistency in my Instagram grid and diversity within my color palette, so I alternated between white and colored backgrounds, and chose new color palettes every three days.

Having to come up with a different idea every day for 100 days was a bit tougher than I thought initially! Even though I time-zone-hopped a bit, I made a new design every day and I'm grateful for the challenge and how it challenged and stretched me creatively.

I can look at several designs and tell you exactly when and where I made them as well as what was going on in my life in that moment.

It's crazy cool how art can suspend time, in a sense.
